WAYS & MEANS

Debbie Smith and Eula Plummer hosted a WPS sponsored dance Wednesday, July 13, from 6:30 to 9:00 PM for $10 per person at the Arlington Elks Lodge. The band was excellent, and everyone had a good time.

Phyllis Weisheit and Nancy Sheffer-Poole will be hosting a WPS sponsored dance on Wednesday, August 3, from 6:30 to 9:00 PM for $10 per person at the Fort Worth Elks Lodge. Prior to the dance the lodge will make food available for purchase. The band Ben and Doug will be performing. See the attached flyer, and please support our dances.

All WPS members should have received their July newsletter via US Postal Service. Included are five coupons for BOGO dinners at selected Spring Creek Barbeque locations as well as tickets for our annual Drawing in October. We are asking a suggested donation of $2.00 each for the coupons. You can get additional coupons from your WPS Board Members or event hosts. To enter the drawing you only need to return the stubs when you return your $2.00 for each coupon. The best way to fill out the stubs is to use return address stickers you normally get in the mail and then just add your phone number. Each coupon enables you to buy any regular priced dinner at Spring Creek Barbeque and receive a second dinner of equal or lesser value free. Please submit your tickets as soon as possible.

A combined Ad and Personal WPS Directory input sheet is included as a flyer attachment to this newsletter so that we can generate the 2023 WPS Directory. The top part of the flyer is for Member entries, and the bottom section is for Advertisement entries. Member and AD Directory input sheets are also available as flyers on our website, wpstc.org. The Directory is a great way to keep in touch or reconnect to your WPS friends, many of whom you may not have seen for many  months. The full Directory will be available to WPS members only.
Advertisers will receive only a book of advertisements.

Also as a fundraiser, we are again selling shirts and jackets with the WPS logo embroidered. The order forms, sizing, and color information has been added to the WPS website. The information is located under Activities, Fund Raisers then WPS Clothing

As a result of the inflation and high gas prices, I have noticed a decrease in attendance by our members at WPS fundraiser functions. If you cannot attend these functions, please consider a donation. Our expenses have not decreased during this time, so donations are always appreciated. Please refer to page 3 of this newsletter for donation options. An explanation of the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) has been added as a flyer to the WPS website.

North Texas Giving Day, an 18-hr online giving event, is Sept 22nd this year (northtexasgivingday.org). For the past several years WPS has participated in this event. We appear as Widowed Persons Service of Tarrant County. Refer to the attached flyer.
