ACTIVITIES, FUND RAISERS & NEWSLETTER FLYERS
ACTIVITIES MESSAGE

June 2020

The Ways and Means committee is responsible for all fundraising activities which include dances, pancake breakfasts, WPS directory, raffle, cruises, etc., all of which have been canceled until further notice.

Since all our means of raising funds have been shut down except for donations, memorials, and Amazon, Kroger, and Tom Thumb profit sharing programs, we must develop new ways to raise money to support our WPS functions until we can again schedule our normal fundraisers.  One of the things I would like to try is to schedule sales at least once a month.  We would sell various items that can be obtained wholesale and sell them at a profit.  To do this, we would need a place to sell these products.  If someone has an empty or semi-empty garage where we could conduct a sale, please let me know.  Since most city codes limit the number of temporary sales at a location to 3 per year, we would require more than one location to be able to conduct a once-per-month sale.

As with you, our bills have not stopped coming in.  We still must pay office rent, internet, phone, postage and printer expenses.  So please make sure you are getting credit for purchases at Kroger, Tom Thumb and Amazon.  Check the bottom of your Kroger receipt for the statement, “Kroger is sharing with Widows Person Service of Tarrant County.”  Make sure when you buy something from Amazon that you use Amazon Smile, and it shows under the search box, “Supporting: Tarrant County Widows Person Service Inc.”  For information on donations and sharing refer to page 3 of the WPS Newsletter.

I would like to thank those that made donations during the month of April. The donations covered a large portion of our monthly expenses.  Donations during this troubling time are greatly appreciated. Please continue to make donations and memorial gifts to Widowed Persons Service of Tarrant County.

It was decided that a Bake-Less Bake Sale be conducted for the month of June. The way this works is to first choose your favorite recipe. Price the items that your recipe requires and instead of purchasing them write a check to WPS for the amount you normally would have to pay.  Send the check to Widowed Persons Service of Tarrant County, 2906 SE Loop 820 Suite A, Fort Worth, Texas 76140-1030.  Please include on the check if it is for the bake sale, donation, or memorial.

Cut and fill out the bank check donation form from page 3 of this newsletter.
