Thoughts on Recovering

Many people think that if they stay busy, busy all the time after the death of their spouse they can outrun the grief. But it doesn’t happen that easy. You have to work at marching thru it, making choices. Choices that will take your life in a direction you can feel good about. When you arrive at this place, you will know it not by the smile on your face, which is good, too, but by a gladness and a sense of happiness in your heart. Yes, this does happen! “In three words, I can sum up everything I have learned about life...it goes on. (Robert Frost)

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

Last session for  the first grief support series at University Christian Church will be Sunday, March 7 beginning at 2:30 PM to about 4:30 PM.  The next Support Series will begin Sunday, March 14 continue March 21, 28, April 4 & 11 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4409 Sycamore School Rd., Fort Worth, 2:30 PM-4:30 PM.  Facilitator:  Tom Monaghan

I become very reflective when I have the privilege of facilitating a Grief Support Series.  One cannot do this journey of grief alone.  I found this out after a couple of years trying to put my own life back to some kind of “normal”.  I needed a connection to other people who could understand my grief, people who had walked this path before me.  I needed to be touched by the experiences of those who have walked before me.  My good friends had no clue.

So, WPS!  “Call it a clan, call it a tribe call it a family.  Whatever its name, whoever you are, you need one.” Dr. Alan Wolfelt.  WPS offered me, and will offer you, hope, inner strength, and the gift of love.

POEM

‘Sometimes it Seems’
They’re just away one moment…
And now our hearts all wish it were so,
Another chance for saying all we meant to…
Just one more hug before the letting go.

‘Sometimes it Seems’
They’re still right here beside us,
Our memories are so powerful and clear…
And it’s a comfort knowing that in some ways
Those we loved so much are always near.
